Sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating the shooting death of a man Saturday in South Gate.
The death was reported at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of Leeds Street, near Imperial Highway and the Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The block is north of Imperial Highway and near where the Rio Hondo and LA rivers meet and has high-voltage power lines, a horse property and businesses.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
