One person was killed in a multi-vehicle, rollover crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita Tuesday
California Highway Patrol officers responded at 3 a.m. Tuesday to the northbound side of the freeway at Magic Mountain Parkway where they found a box truck, a gold Toyota Camry and a semitrailer had collided, blocking several lanes of the freeway when the box truck flipped over during the crash, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, Kravig said. The name, age and gender of the victim were not immediately available.
A SigAlert was issued for the closure of three lanes of the northbound freeway at Magic Mountain Park while the CHP investigated the cause of the crash.
At 6:20 a.m., the CHP announced the SigAlert was extended for two hours.
Northbound traffic was backed up to Lyons Avenue.
