Four men suspected of burglarizing a Burbank business and stealing about $100,000 worth of collectible merchandise were arrested during a pair of raids, police said Thursday.
Around 2 a.m. Dec. 2, a burglary was reported at LA Sports Card, 1922 W. Olive Ave., according to the Burbank Police Department. The suspects forced their way into the shop and ransacked the interior, but fled before officers arrived, police said.
An inventory conducted after the burglary revealed that several high-value items were missing or stolen, including Pokémon trading card products, rare sports cards, and other collectible items, according to police.
Following an investigation that included a review of surveillance footage, detectives identified four suspects in the case, then served a pair of warrants on Dec. 18 and on Wednesday, leading to the arrests of the suspects and recovery of evidence linking them to the break-in, police said.
The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Brian Chavez and 22-year-old Jeremy Lopez, both of Los Angeles; Marco Barrongil, 26, of North Hollywood; and 27-year-old Elijah Garcia of Compton.
All four suspects were booked on suspicion of felony burglary.
According to jail records, Chavez and Barrongil were both released from custody following their arrests in December. Garcia was arrested Wednesday and remained jailed in lieu of $60,000 bail, according to jail records. It was unclear if Lopez was still in custody.
Burbank police said the investigation was forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for consideration of criminal charges.
