An alleged armed robbery suspect in the Winnetka area of Los Angeles was killed Saturday when his potential victim wrestled away the gun away and shot him.
The drama started at 4:11 p.m. Saturday in the 20400 block of Sherman Way, between Oso and Mason avenues, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
A 31-year-old man was in an alley when a 36-year-old man approached, attempted to rob him, then fired shots at him, the officer said. The two men got into a fight and the would-be victim wrestled the gun away from the assailant and fired a shot that struck him.
Paramedics took the suspect to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, he said.
Neither man’s name was disclosed.
The shooting was under investigation, he said.
