Police Wednesday are investigating a shooting in Jefferson Park that left an 18-year-old man dead.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday to the 3600 block of Sixth Avenue between Fifth and Sixth avenues regarding a shots fired call. When they arrived at the scene, the officers learned the victim and another 18-year-old man were engaged in a verbal dispute when the victim was shot in the chest, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The second man ran away from the scene in an unknown direction. It was unclear if the shooting was accidental.
