A 33-year-old man suspected of brandishing a weapon and attempting to flee from authorities in Hemet remained behind bars Thursday.
Carlos Uriel Montoya of Corona was booked into Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Wednesday on suspicion of domestic violence-related charges, according to Sgt. Robert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
His bail information was not immediately available.
Deputies responded to a report of an individual brandishing a weapon shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 45000 block of East Florida Avenue.
Upon arrival, they learned that the suspect fled the area. Later that night, deputies found a suspect vehicle near Ramona Expressway and Highway 74, where they conducted a traffic stop.
During the stop, deputies detained the man without incident and later arrested him.
The investigation was ongoing.
