Police Thursday are investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Sun Valley.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were called to 9377 San Fernando Road and Sheldon Street at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday regarding a collision. When they arrived at the scene, they learned from witnesses that the victim was on the tracks when the southbound train struck him, an LAPD officer told City News Service.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department were called to the scene, where they pronounced the victim dead.

The LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
