One of two people killed in a two-car collision at an intersection in Santa Clarita was identified by authorities Monday.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Station responded about 11:30 p.m. Friday to a crash at Newhall Ranch Road and Bouquet Canyon Road, where they found multiple people injured, authorities said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while several others were taken to a hospital, Sgt. Joana Warren told City News Service.
The victim who died at the scene was identified by the county Medical Examiner’s office as Sylvia Lux, 49, of Canyon Country.
Another person transported to a hospital by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel later died, but the medical examiner’s office said positive identification and next-of-kin notification were still pending.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while authorities investigated.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
