A husband and wife were killed in a crash in Santa Clarita involving a 17-year-old suspected drunken driver, while their daughter was critically injured, authorities announced Wednesday.

The fatal collision occurred at around 11:15 p.m. Friday near Newhall Ranch and Bouquet Canyon roads, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s officials said that a violent crash took the lives of a husband and wife, leaving their daughter with serious injuries.

Deputies determined in a preliminary investigation that a drunken driver struck the victims’ vehicle.

The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old boy, who was booked on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

His name was withheld because of his age.

The severity of the crash and fatalities prompted an ongoing investigation by Traffic Services Detail detectives, authorities said.

Investigators have collected evidence related to the crash and are expected to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for formal filing consideration.
