A husband and wife killed in a violent crash in Santa Clarita involving a 17-year-old suspected drunken driver were identified Thursday by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
Genry Ortiz Torres, 54, and Sylvia Lux, 49, both of Canyon Country, died from blunt force injuries suffered in the crash around 11:15 p.m. Friday near Newhall Ranch and Bouquet Canyon roads.
The crash also critically injured the victims’ daughter, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Lux was pronounced dead at the scene and Torres at a hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Deputies determined in a preliminary investigation that a drunken driver struck the victims’ vehicle.
The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old boy, who was booked on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
His name was withheld because of his age.
Investigators have collected evidence related to the crash and were expected to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for formal filing consideration.
