A multi-vehicle wreck at a Riverside intersection Thursday injured at least three people and prompted closure of a four-lane corridor.

The crash was reported about 12:45 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard, on the west end of the city, according to the Riverside Fire Department.

The agency stated that multiple engine crews and a paramedic squad were sent to the location and discovered seven vehicles with impact damage, with three people suffering moderate to major injuries.

Another four people were assessed by paramedics but declined medical attention, according to officials at the scene.

Riverside police officers shut down Lincoln going in both directions. The closure was expected to be lifted around 3 p.m., following a preliminary investigation and removal of the wreckage.

Three ambulances were summoned to the location and retrieved the injured victims, whose identities were not disclosed. They were taken to a regional trauma center for treatment.

The cause of the collision was under investigation.
