A police pursuit ended Friday when a suspect vehicle crashed into a passenger bus in the Westlake district, seriously injuring two people and leaving three others with minor injuries, including a Los Angeles Police Department officer.

The crash occurred near Bixel and Sixth streets, according to the LAPD.

Metro Communications Director Jose Ubaldo said a Metro Line 720 bus was traveling eastbound on Sixth Street at Bixel when it was struck by the suspect vehicle.

Firefighters transported two seriously injured patients — reportedly unrestrained occupants of one of the vehicles involved — to a hospital.

Two bus passengers were also taken to a hospital with less serious injuries, and an LAPD officer sustained minor injuries, authorities said.

According to Ubaldo, the bus operator was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

All suspects were taken into custody following the collision, police said.

The incident was linked to a burglary call reported at about 11:57 a.m. near Miramar Street and Third Street, just a few blocks from the crash scene, though details about the pursuit and the circumstances leading up to the collision were not immediately available.

”Metro extends its wishes for the speedy recovery to all those injured and thanks the Los Angeles Police and Fire Department for their assistance,” Ubaldo said.
