A stolen vehicle suspect drove into the Los Angeles River Friday while being chased by police in Paramount.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Compton Station began chasing the suspect about 2:30 a.m.
He drove into the river channel along the Long Beach (710) Freeway near Florence Avenue before turning south.
The vehicle could been seen speeding through the river with its front hood flipped up.
The riverbed has been the site of several cinematic car scenes, including “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and “Grease.”
The driver lost control in the area of Rosemead Boulevard and tried to flee on fought, but was soon caught hiding in some brush, a watch sergeant at the Compton Station said.
