A woman in her 60s was found stabbed to death Saturday in the garage of a San Juan Capistrano home and her estranged spouse is suspected of killing her, authorities said.

Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department were summoned to a domestic incident just after 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the 26000 block of Laurelwood Lane, according to the OCSD.

They found the woman dead from apparent stab wounds. The suspect, also in his 60s, was taken by ambulance to a hospital with wounds not believed to be life-threatening, sheriff’s officials said. The victim and suspect were believed to be estranged spouses who both lived at the home.

The woman’s name will be released by the Orange County coroner’s office, the OCSD said.

The man will be booked into the Orange County Jail for suspicion of homicide when he gets out of the hospital and his name will be released afterward, authorities added.

Anyone with information for homicide detectives investigating the case was asked to call 714-647-7000 or leave anonymous tips with OC Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
