One person was killed Wednesday when a car apparently crashed into the rear of a parked big rig on the shoulder of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Newhall, becoming wedged beneath the truck.
The collision was reported at 11:51 a.m. on the northbound 14 Freeway just north of the Golden State (5) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, a CHP officer said.
According to a report from the scene, a Toyota Corolla struck the parked truck along the right shoulder, trapping the occupant inside the vehicle.
A SigAlert was issued at 12:15 p.m., closing two northbound lanes, according to the CHP.
