Technicians from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department’s Arson and Explosives Detail Thursday are investigating who might have left a suspicious device on a Metro train in East Los Angeles.

The detail responded at 7:32 p.m. Wednesday to the Metro E Line’s Atlantic Station in 5100 block of Pomona Boulevard and South Woods Avenue regarding a suspicious backpack, LASD Deputy Daniel Dominguez told City News Service.

Initially using a robot to inspect the backpack, the arson and bomb squad removed it from the train and operations at the station were resumed around 10:40 p.m., Dominguez said.

The station was closed for over three hours while the LASD arson and explosives unit investigated the contents of the backpack.

Video from the scene showed an officer from the arson and bomb squad leaving the station carrying the backpack.
