Five people from Oakland suspected of an armed robbery outside a store on Rodeo Drive were in custody Friday.
Four men dressed in black and wearing face coverings carried out the robbery on Nov. 23, 2024 in the 400 block of North Rodeo Drive, just south of Santa Monica Boulevard, the Beverly Hills Police Department announced Thursday.
A male was struck in the back of the head with a firearm. A female victim was thrown to the ground and kicked. The group allegedly stole handbags, cash, and an engagement ring. They fled in a white rental vehicle driven by an additional suspect, police said.
The suspects were located in Oakland with the assistance of a U.S, Marshals Service task force, police said.
Several warrants were obtained to confirm the identities of the suspects, leading to their arrests. They were taken to Beverly Hills and booked on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy.
The five suspects were identified as Kingikirah Stevenson, 31, D’Angelo Tedla, 22, and Kingelijah Stevenson, Wendel Stevenson and Jaeyden Duncan, all 18.
The relationship between Wendel Stevenson, Kingikirah Stevenson, and Kingelijah Stevenson, if any, was not disclosed.
“This case reflects the Beverly Hills Police Department’s unwavering commitment to public safety and to holding violent offenders accountable, regardless of where they attempt to flee,” BHPD Chief Mark G. Stainbrook said in a statement.
