Authorities Monday were investigating a shooting at a motorcycle club in Palm Springs that left two people dead and three others with gunshot wounds.

The shooting was reported at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 19400 block of N. Indian Canyon Drive, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

The agency said a motorcycle club was hosting a private event when an altercation ensued and gunfire erupted. Several people left the area on motorcycles, police said.

The circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately available.

Autopsies were pending Monday. The three injured people sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to a hospital.
