Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday are investigating the death of a man who was found shot in Bellflower and the suspected shooter is on the loose.

Deputies from the department’s Lakewood Station were called at approximately 12:17 a.m. Wednesday to the 14000 block of Bellflower Boulevard, north of Rosecrans Avenue near T. Mayne Thompson Park and St. John Bosco High School, where they found the man suffering from gunshot wounds, said LASD Homicide Lt. Michael Modica.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene in the rear parking area of an apartment complex.

Deputies could be seen conducting an investigation in a second floor apartment and in the parking lot.

Modica told reporters at the scene the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence dispute involving someone known to the victim, who was leaving the complex with a female when someone came out and shot him.

The lieutenant said it “wasn’t a random act of violence,” and there is no threat to the public.

Anyone who has information about the shooting was urged to contact the LASD Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Callers who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 213-628-2013 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
