A crash in Covina that sent four people to a hospital Wednesday occurred as a man engaged in a high-speed vehicle chase of his wife following a domestic dispute, police said.
The crash, which involved as many as five vehicles, was reported about 5:50 a.m. near the intersection of Hollenbeck Avenue and Cypress Street, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A police department watch commander was unable to confirm a report that one trapped victim was cut from the wreckage.
Video from the scene showed at least two badly mangled vehicles, one of them on its side.
All four patients were taken to a hospital, a fire department public information officer said.
It was unclear if one of them was the wife of the suspect.
The suspect fled the crash scene, but was found hiding on a nearby property.
He was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared before booking, the watch commander said.
