A homicide investigation was underway Wednesday after the death of a 23-year-old woman in Moreno Valley, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday in the 14000 block of Woodlark Lane, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
They found a woman unresponsive and not breathing, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Alberto Loureiro. Paramedics arrived a short time later and performed livesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the deceased as Elana Davis.
A preliminary investigation revealed Davis was in a physical altercation with a family member when she lost consciousness and stopped breathing, Loureiro said.
The circumstances behind the alleged altercation were not immediately available, and no arrests were reported.
The investigation was ongoing.
