A 34-year-old man killed in a single-vehicle crash in the unincorporated Willowbrook area near Watts was identified Thursday.
The crash was reported at 5:12 a.m. Tuesday on Imperial Highway at Compton Avenue, just north of the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The vehicle hit the center divider, according to an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division.
The crash occurred on the Wilmington Avenue overpass and the vehicle was westbound on Imperial Highway when it struck the divider, the officer said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the child, reported to be a 7-year-old girl, was rushed to a hospital, the officer said.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the man Thursday as Maurtele Jones, who sustained blunt traumatic injuries.
An update on the child’s condition was not immediately available.
