A man was behind bars Friday for allegedly shooting a 58-year-old woman during a domestic disturbance in Indio.
Francisco Javier Gonzalez Garcia, 56, was booked into the Benoit Detention Center in Indio Friday on suspicion of attempted murder and other felonies, according to the Indio Police Department.
Bail information was not immediately available.
Officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Palmdale Estates in the 51000 block of Monroe Street.
Police said the suspect fired a handgun during a domestic disturbance, injuring the woman. The relationship between the suspect and victim was unclear.
The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Garcia was found at the scene and taken into custody without incident on Thursday. Officers allegedly found the firearm they believe was used during the altercation.
