A woman wanted in an El Monte police theft investigation led officers on a pursuit from El Monte to Downey in a U-Haul box truck before she was arrested.
The pursuit began just before 8 p.m. Saturday in El Monte, Lt. A. Gutierrez told City News Service. He did not immediately know exactly where it started.
The woman was a theft suspect, Gutierrez said. He did not know whether the U-Haul was stolen.
KCAL picked up the pursuit as the woman drove the truck off the Golden State (5) Freeway at Fourth Street and went on Los Angeles city streets including Soto Street, Slauson Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard. She then got onto the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, got off at Firestone Boulevard and made her way to into a neighborhood.
At Morning Avenue at De Palma Street, the woman bailed out of the truck carrying a large bag, and ran until she was stopped by California Highway Patrol officers and taken into custody without further incident around 8:35 p.m.
