In preparation of the upcoming festival season in Indio, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach County Music Festival, a stretch of Avenue 50 will close Monday and remain blocked until early May for pedestrians and vehicles.
The road will be closed between Monroe and Madison streets through 6 p.m. May 4, according to the Indio Police Department.
Authorities urged motorists and pedestrians to plan ahead and take alternate routes, including Highway 111, Dr. Carreon Boulevard, Avenue 48 and Avenue 52.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will take place April 10-12 and April 17-19, while the Stagecoach Festival will be held April 24-26. Both festivals will be held at the Empire Polo Club.
Residents and festivalgoers can expect more road closures and access routes to be announced as the festivals approach.
