A vehicle fire in Cabazon extended into adjacent vegetation Tuesday, scorching about 10 to 15 acres and prompting some evacuations.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly before 2 p.m. at Almond Street and Bonita Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fore Department.
Responding crews reported the flames were moving at moderate speed, with the potential to burn around 20 acres, according to the agency. A total of 18 engines crews and one dozer were requested to assist at the scene.
An evacuation order was issued for the area south and east of Almond Avenue, north of Bonita Avenue and west of Elm Street.
Evacuation warnings were issued south of Bonita Avenue, north of Esperanza Avenue, west of Elm Street and east of Almond Street.
The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
