A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a vehicle early Wednesday in South Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday to Florence Avenue and Main Street, where they found the victim on the side of the road, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, where they pronounced the victim dead.

He was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Angel Padilla Lopez.

The motorcycle was located several hundred feet away from where Lopez was found and a shoe and his helmet were found near his body, according to reports from the scene.

Florence Avenue was closed between Main and San Pedro streets for the crash response and investigation.
