A two-alarm fire at a Jurupa Valley residence Thursday injured the occupant and damaged two structures before the flames were knocked down.
The blaze was reported at 2 p.m. Thursday in the 3600 block of Jennie Street, near Patty Street, just south of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated that multiple engine crews from the county, as well as one from the Riverside Fire Department, were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the single-story house, extending to a nearby outbuilding.
The occupant evacuated the home before firefighters arrived, suffering from smoke inhalation and unexplained pain, according to reports from the scene.
The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment.
Crews prevented the flames from expanding into surrounding vegetation.
At 2:35 p.m., the blaze was completely contained, and it was extinguished a short time later.
Damage to the two structures was significant, officials said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
