A fire in a van with a fuel leak that authorities believe may have been the source of a blaze at an apartment building in Venice was quickly extinguished, the Los Angeles Fire Department said Friday.

LAFD firefighters were called to 48 East Westminster Court and Pacific Avenue at 2:48 a.m. Friday, where they found the van fully engaged in flames. All apartments above the fire were spared any damage, said LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

It took 48 firefighters 24 minutes to put out the fire.

There were no injuries reported to residents or firefighters, according to Middleton.

Specialists from the LAFD’s Arson Section have been called to further investigate the cause of the fire.
