A man was stabbed Wednesday morning in Long Beach, prompting a police investigation and disrupting service on Metro’s A Line.

Officers responded about 5 a.m. to reports of a stabbing in the area of Pacific Avenue and Fifth Street, according to a Long Beach Police Department public information officer, Andrea Moran.

Officers arrived and found the man with stab wounds to his upper body.

“Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital,” said Moran. “The motive for the incident is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.”

Reports from the scene showed a light rail train stopped at the location, and Metro said bus shuttles are operating between the Pacific and Anaheim stations.
