A man was stabbed Wednesday morning near a Metro rail station in Long Beach, prompting a police investigation and disrupting service on the A Line.
Officers responded at about 5 a.m. Wednesday to reports of a stabbing in the area of Pacific Avenue and Fifth Street, according to spokeswoman Andrea Moran of the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers arrived and found the man with stab wounds to his upper body, Moran said.
“Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital,” Moran said. “The motive for the incident is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.”
Reports from the scene showed a light rail train stopped at the location, and Metro said it deployed bus shuttles between the Pacific and Anaheim stations until about 9 a.m., when regular service was restored on the A Line, which was formerly called the Blue Line.
