Police Thursday said they are investigating an alleged attack on former Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham in Santa Monica, a day after a woman told a local news station that the guitarist is her biological father.
Without providing details about when and where the encounter occurred, the Los Angeles Police Department acknowledged that an incident and suspect were being investigated jointly by a special department unit and counterparts in Santa Monica.
“The LAPD’s Threat Management Unit is working with the city of Santa Monica to investigate this incident,” according to an LAPD statement. “To protect the integrity of the open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be provided.”
According to various media reports, the incident occurred on March 25 and Buckingham has had previous contact with the suspect.
The 76-year-old rocker had previously secured a restraining order against 54-year-old Michelle Dick after she allegedly made a number of death threats, among other harassments, according to reports.
Court documents cited in broadcast reports indicate Dick was not arrested.
She spoke with KTLA5 Wednesday night and admitted to confronting Buckingham last week and also visiting his Brentwood home in the past.
Dick lives in her car, she told the station, which reported that police say an arrest is imminent.
Buckingham was part of Fleetwood Mac from 1975-87, and again from 1996-2018.
