A 42-year-old man suspected of stealing three air condition condenser units valued at $12,000 was taken into custody Thursday.

Deputies assigned to the Perris Sheriff’s Station received reports regarding a grand theft at approximately 11:22 a.m. on Feb.25, with victims reporting that their AC condenser units were stolen from the area of Byrant Street and Knott Court, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Further investigation led Robbery Burglary Suppression Team investigators to identify Israel Yanez of Riverside as the suspect.Yanez was located on Thursday in the 1900 block of Katella Avenue in Orange, where he was taken into custody with incident.

Sheriff’s officials said that deputies recovered drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Another location was identified as part of the investigation in the 5100 block of Peacock Lane in Riverside, where investigators recovered one of the stolen AC condenser units, a loaded unregistered shotgun, and multiple rounds of assorted ammunition.

Yanez was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of possession of stolen property, grand theft, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies believe there are additional suspects who were involved, and are working to identify the remaining stolen items.
