A hired construction worker suspected of possessing stolen property from a home in Lake Mathews has been taken into custody, authorities announced Thursday.

Deputies assigned to the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station responded at approximately 11:24 a.m. on Wednesday to reports of a residential burglary, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was identified as Jason George Graham, 48, of Riverside, who fled the residence after being confronted.

Sheriff’s officials said the victims reported that multiple items were stolen from their home, prompting deputies to search the area, but they were unable to locate Graham.

Investigators later located Graham’s vehicle in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Pierce Street in Riverside. He was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop conducted by Lake Mathews Special Enforcement Team personnel.

Graham was taken to the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station for an interview, and his vehicle was towed to the station for processing, sheriff’s officials said.

A search warrant was executed, and investigators recovered evidence related to the burglary in Graham’s vehicle and additional items possibly related to other burglaries, along with narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Graham was booked in the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Riverside sheriff’s officials said believe there are potential additional victims and encourage those individuals to come forward.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call Investigator Andrews or Master Investigator Juarez at the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station at 951-272-5600.
