The Santa Monica Pier remained opened while officers conducted a thorough sweep of the area, in response to a report involving a potential bomb threat that proved to not be credible, authorities said Sunday.
The potential bomb threat was received at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the Santa Monica Police Department reported.
“In coordination with specialized units, officers conducted a thorough sweep of the area,” according to a police statement. “Following this investigation, it was determined that the threat was not credible.”
The pier remained open throughout the assessment and no injuries were reported.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the public will notice an increased police presence in the area,” according to the police statement. “All operations at the Pier have returned to normal status.”
