A 67-year-old man who was struck and killed by an SUV in Long Beach was identified Monday.
Officers responded at 7:55 p.m. Saturday to the area of Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road located the vic in the victim in the roadway, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
He was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Darryl Roundtree, who sustained blunt traumatic injuries.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling southbound on Pacific Place in the number one lane when he struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway, outside of a marked crosswalk,” according to a police statement.
The motorist driving the Subaru stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, authorities said. Neither speed, distracted driving nor driving under the influence were believed to be factors in the crash, police said.
