The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was working Monday to identify a man found dead in an alley in Stanton on Easter Sunday in an investigation that led later to a gambling raid.

The victim, who was in his 30s, was found dead at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday in an alleyway near Pacific and Main streets in the city, according to Sgt. Gerard McCann. The victim, who has not yet been identified, appeared to have been a victim of homicide, McCann said.

While deputies were chasing down leads they came upon a gambling house at Cerritos and Flower avenues and arrested six people who were wanted on warrant, McCann said. It was not clear if there is any link between the possible homicide and the alleged gambling house, McCann said.
