Police sought the public’s assistance Thursday in locating a suspected hit-and-run driver responsible for critical injuring a motorcyclist in South Los Angeles.

The collision was reported at approximately 6:50 a.m. on March 15, when an older-model red Honda Odyssey minivan traveling south on Normandie Avenue toward 48th Street crashed into a motorcycle heading northbound, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said the motorcyclist was knocked off their bike and fell onto the street, but the driver of the minivan failed to stop and render aid, continuing east on 48th Street toward Raymond Avenue.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and took the victim to a hospital, where they were treated for injuries.

“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the police department said in a statement.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the identity, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
