A person was injured in a shooting Friday in Indio, and the assailant remained at large.
The shooting was reported at about 7:20 a.m. in the area of Van Buren Street and Corregidor Avenue, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Responding deputies found a victim suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, sheriff’s officials said. The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital with stable vital signs.
A nearby school was placed on a temporary lockdown while deputies searched the area, but deputies were unable to locate any suspects or evidence.
The investigation was ongoing.
