Sheriff’s detectives Friday were working to determine if a woman shot while standing on her West Hollywood balcony was known to the suspect who wounded her.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s West Hollywood Station responded at approximately 8:45 p.m. Thursday to the 1000 block of North Vista Street, about a block south of Santa Monica Boulevard, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. When they arrived at the scene, they learned the victim had been shot while standing on a balcony, LASD Deputy Daniel Dominguez told City News Service.

The woman was taken to a hospital.

A lieutenant at the West Hollywood Station said Friday that detectives there were investigating if the shooter had some kind of connection to the woman, who was hospitalized in stable condition.
