A brush fire that scorched about 850 acres in the unincorporated Fairmont area just west of Lancaster was 88% contained Friday.
The Dora Fire was reported about 2:20 p.m. Thursday near West Avenue D and 210th Street West, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The blaze initially burned about 10 acres before spreading quickly.
By 3:15 p.m. that day, the fire had grown to about 50 acres, prompting officials to upgrade the response to a second alarm.
The blaze expanded around 4:45 p.m. to approximately 750 acres and remained 0% contained. Evacuation warnings were issued for the surrounding area. As of 6:15 p.m., fire officials confirmed that the evacuation warnings had been lifted.
In an update at 10 a.m. Friday, the fire department stated the blaze was holding at 850 acres burned with containment at 88%.
No injuries or damage to structures were reported.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
