A brush fire that erupted Friday on the west end of Perris scorched roughly a half-acre before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 10:50 a.m. Friday in the area of Rider Street and Seaton Avenue, about a quarter-mile west of Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a slow rate across open space, with no threat to structures.
Two Cal Fire air tankers were requested as a precaution, but when they reached the area at 11:15 a.m., ground crews had established hose lays and stopped the brusher’s forward rate of spread, according to reports from the scene.
Full containment was expected by noon.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
