Two adults were displaced after a residential fire broke out Tuesday in Desert Hot Springs.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 1:18 p.m. Tuesday in the 13500 block of Cuando Way, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said crews encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the attic, and the fire was knocked down by 2 p.m.

The Red Cross was requested to assist the man and woman who were displaced.

Crews were expected to remain at the scene for an additional hour for salvage and overhaul, the department said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
