Authorities Monday were investigating a house fire in East Hollywood that killed a 53-year-old man and his dog.
Firefighters arrived around 3 p.m. Sunday to the one-story house at 1323 Kenmore Ave., near the Kaiser Permanente hospital on Sunset Boulevard, and knocked down the fire in 22 minutes, according to a statement from Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
The man and his dog were both confirmed dead on the scene, Lantz said. He was not immediately identified.
“In accordance with protocol for fatal fires, (Los Angeles Police Department), LAFD arson investigators and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner were attached to the incident. The cause of this fire remains under investigation,” Lantz said.
