Firefighters extricated two passengers from a vehicle that collided with a heavy-rail train Sunday on the Metro East Line in Los Angeles.

The crash occurred around 4 p.m. when a vehicle attempted to make a U-turn onto the tracks in front of the train at the intersection of Exposition Boulevard and Raymond Avenue, according to a press release by LA Metro.

The two vehicle passengers were transported to a local hospital, according to the department. It was unclear if those were the only vehicle occupants. Their condition remained unknown. All passengers on the train were assessed and were uninjured.

Metro shut down the tracks in both directions for nearly two hours while the vehicle was removed and passengers were off-loaded at the next platform. The train service resumed at 5:45 p.m.
