Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was scheduled to moderate a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Homelessness Task Force Thursday at the conference’s winter meeting in Washington, D.C.

Ann Oliva, the CEO of the National Alliance to End Homelessness, is scheduled to speak during the task force’s meeting at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Bass has been chair of the task force since 2023.

Bass is also set to participate in a “Fireside Chat” Thursday with Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, the conference’s president.

Beverly Hills Mayor Sharona Nazarian is set to speak at a panel discussion Thursday titled “Bridging Policy and Practice: Shaping America’s Health Future,” which will examine how federal and state health policies “are translating into real-world impacts in cities to strengthen health outcomes for residents nationwide,” according to the conference.

Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua is set to participate in a discussion Thursday afternoon on the “Current Situation in Cities and How City Governments and Local Agencies are Supporting Immigrant Communities.”

In addition to Bass and Nazarian, the other mayors from Los Angeles County registered to attend the meeting which concludes Friday are Rene Trevino (Artesia), Miguel De La Rosa (Bell Gardens), Frank Aurelio Yokoyama (Cerritos), Freddy Puza (Culver City), Chris Pimentel (El Segundo), Cassandra Chase (Lakewood), Rex Richardson (Long Beach), Heber Marquez (Maywood), Eric Ohlsen (Palmdale), Gustavo Camacho (Pico Rivera), Jim Light (Redondo Beach), George Chen (Torrance) and Ritchie Cajulis (Walnut).

The Orange County mayors registered in addition to Amezcua are Ashleigh Aitken (Anaheim), Connor Traut (Buena Park) and John Stephens (Costa Mesa).

More than 250 mayors of cities with populations of 30,000 or more are registered, organizers said.

  1. It’s great to see Mayor Bass actively leading the Homelessness Task Force for the US Conference of Mayors. Given her experience in LA, I’m curious what specific, scalable solutions she plans to highlight during the moderated session with the National Alliance to End Homelessness CEO.
