All but one member of the county Board of Supervisors Friday endorsed Karen Bass in her bid for re-election as mayor of Los Angeles.

Bass’ campaign announced Friday that Supervisors Hilda Solis, Holly Mitchell, Janice Hahn and Kathryn Barger backed her bid for a second term leading the second largest city in the nation.

“There is only one leader with the ability to continue delivering results on housing and public safety as Mayor of Los Angeles, and that is Karen Bass,” Solis said in a statement, who serves as chair of the Board of Supervisors.

Solis referenced their history and relationship built in their mutual work in Washington, D.C.

Bass previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2022, representing the state’s 33rd Congressional District and later the 37th District. Solis represented the 31st and 32nd Congressional Districts of California from 2001 to 2009, and later served as the 25th U.S. Secretary of Labor from 2009 to 2013 under the Obama administration.

Solis touted Bass’ efforts in addressing homelessness and defending immigrants in Los Angeles amid a federal crackdown on illegal immigration.

“She knows just as I do that there is more work to be done, and I am looking forward to working alongside her. I am proud to endorse a proven Los Angeles leader who delivers results for the people,” Solis said in her statement.

Hahn, Mitchell and Barger shared similar statements in support of Bass.

“Over the past year, Karen Bass and I have demonstrated that collaboration across party lines is possible and consequential,” Barger said, who is the only Republican on the county Board of Supervisors. “She has shown a consistent willingness to set aside political differences in services of outcomes that benefit all Angelenos — a quality I highly value and do not take for granted.”

L.A. County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath declined to endorse Bass. Horvath previously contemplated a challenge against Bass but ultimately decided to run for reelection for a second term representing the Third Supervisorial District, which stretches from the Ventura County line to Santa Monica, and Hollywood to Sylmar and San Fernando.

A representative for Horvath’s campaign did not immediately respond to comment.
