A new community health clinic offering medical and dental services to low-income and formerly unhoused residents opened Wednesday at an affordable housing complex in Panorama City, with Rep. Luz Rivas, D-Arleta, joining local leaders for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The satellite clinic, operated by the San Fernando Community Health Center, is located within the Corazón del Valle development, a 180-unit affordable housing complex designed to integrate supportive services with housing.

Officials said the clinic will provide primary and pediatric care, dental services and treatment for chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, while also serving residents in the surrounding community.

Rivas helped secure $2 million in state funding for the project in 2022 while serving in the California Assembly, according to her office.

“I’m excited to be welcoming the San Fernando Community Health Center to Panorama City where it will help play a key role in providing quality medical and dental care to those facing housing and economic instability in our community,” Rivas said in a statement.

The clinic includes two medical exam rooms and two dental treatment rooms and is intended to expand access to care for patients regardless of income or insurance status, officials said.

Leaders said the project reflects a broader effort to link health care access with stable housing, bringing together nonprofit, community and industry partners.

“When our patients are empowered to take charge of their own health, it strengthens the well-being of the entire community,” San Fernando Community Health Center CEO Audrey Simons said.

The facility is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 14533 Lanark St., with appointments encouraged and limited walk-in visits available.
