Angelica Vale, Angelica Maria’s daughter and an actress, singer and comedian, and singer-actor Diego Boneta will join Angelica Maria in speaking at the 11:30 a.m. ceremony in front of the Live Nation building on Hollywood Boulevard.
Angelica Maria was born in New Orleans and moved to Mexico with her family when she was 4 years old. She began her film career when she was 5 years old and won the Ariel, Mexico’s film academy award, when she was 8 years old in 1952 for “Mi Esposa y la Otra.”
Angelica Maria has appeared in 61 movies, more than 25 telenovelas — soap operas that appear in prime time — 17 theatrical production and recorded 63 albums.
Angelica Maria began her recording career when she was 17 years old, earning the title of “Mexico’s Sweetheart.” She is credited with launching the ranchera ballad genre in 1973, becoming the first Latin singer to sell 2 million copies of an album in the U.S.
Angelica Maria is the only Mexican singer to sell out back-to-back shows on the same day at Madison Square Garden. She received a lifetime achievement Latin Grammy Award in 2008.
Angelica Maria is starring with Sela Ward and Nick Nolte on the comedy series “Graves,” soon to air on the EPIX premium cable network.
