“Captain America: Brave New World” held onto its top spot at the box office with $28.3 million in its second weekend in North America theaters, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
Disney’s latest entry in the Marvel universe beat out “The Monkey,” a horror film based on a Stephen King story which opened with $14.2 million, Comscore reported.
“Paddington in Peru” was third with $6.5 million Friday through Sunday in its second weekend.
“Dog Man” was fourth with $5.9 million in its fourth week, followed by the Chinese animated blockbuster “Ne Zha 2” with $3 million in its second weekend in theaters in the United States and Canada.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were “Heart Eyes” ($2.8 million), “Mufasa: The Lion King” ($2.5 million), “The Unbreakable Boy” ($2.5 million), “Chhaava” ($1.49 million) and “One of Them Days” ($1.41 million).
